Banana Cream Pie

First "make" the crust. I DON'T make crust! I buy it at the store and unroll it. Just follow the instructions on the box. (Why torture yourself?)


For the filling:
3/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup starch
1/2 tsp salt
1 envelope unflavored gelatine
3 cups milk
4 egg yolks
Cook this mixture on the stove until thick, about 15 minutes. Add 2 T butter and 1 T vanilla.
Whip 1 cup whipping cream and fold into this mixture with 4 cut up bananas.
Pour into 2 baked pie crusts and refrigerate.

Short cuts...shame on you. ;)(Just kidding) I got yelled at when I was in the store one time by an ex-aunt because I was looking at the pillsbury premade pie dough. I didn't really tell her what I wanted to tell her. I don't think I was in the mood to make any pies after that. Maybe I will try again this year.

Banana cream pie is one of my favorite desserts and makes me think of my father. Thanks for posting this. Hope all is well, you've not blogged in a long time.

Okay, so I follow your other two blogs and thought I check this one out! Lol, you are way more creative with meals than I am. Well, honestly, cooking is SO not my area. Really, the other day I had to use google to figure out what I could cook that had ground turkey and mashed potatoes(the instant kind;) I ended up making shepherd's pie...
Anyway, just wanted to say I like your simple meal ideas! I may be borrowing a few:)
